President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently
experiencing mild symptoms, as confirmed by the White House on Wednesday. The
President, 81, tested positive after participating in his first event in Las
Vegas, where he was scheduled to speak at the UnidosUS annual conference later
that day.

Biden's physician reported that he exhibited symptoms such as a runny nose,
non-productive cough, and general malaise. Despite feeling well enough to
attend his initial event, he was later tested for COVID-19 due to not feeling
better, and the results came back positive. The President has started taking
Paxlovid, an antiviral medication, and is now self-isolating at his home in
Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, following the guidelines set by the US Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention.
The news of Biden's diagnosis was first shared publicly by UnidosUS President
and CEO Janet Murguía during the conference. She informed attendees that Biden
was deeply disappointed about not being able to attend the event as planned.
"I was just on the phone with President Biden. And he shared his deep
disappointment at not being able to join us this afternoon. The president has
been at many events as we all know and he just tested positive for Covid,"
Murguía announced, explaining his absence.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre provided additional details
from Biden's doctor, highlighting the President's mild upper respiratory
symptoms and confirming the positive test result. Meanwhile, CNN has reached
out to both the Biden campaign and the White House for further comments on the
situation.
